The world is going to hell in a handcart. Oil's gone mad, inflation's gone bad, bank governors are sad and the media's glad - they'll take sensation every day of the week and definitely twice on Sundays. But...
I'm on the beach in Majorca.
So, no ChoiceCuts this week, just a postcard:
The weather's hot, the women are hotter. Plane full, bars packed, restaurants jammed. If there's a recession somebody forgot to tell them about it. My kids are never happier than building castles by the edge of the sea - and no downturn can wipe that out. I've foolishly convinced my kids that there's a pirate living round the coast and they are demanding stories on a near-hourly basis. Like any growth story this is surely unsustainable?!?!
Like my daughter struggling with a melting ice-cream, like a waiter struggling with our constantly shifting order, like a crab scrabbling away from my rather pathetic attempts to grab it - it just might all work out.
The world will turn a couple of times and we'll all forget about this economical dip.
Happy holidays.

Remember: sun cream has a shelf life of just 2-3 years. So don't use the old stuff you bought in 2004 unless you like peeling skin.
