What is a Floating Odds Bet?

Floating Odds, What is a Floating Odds BetA floating odds bet is a bet on an event - in this case a financial event - where all prices (odds) are constantly moving but where the strike price (the price the market needs to reach for the bet to be "won") is fixed.

It might be a 2/1 bet that the market will end up above 6301. A few seconds later it might be 6/4 that the market will end above this same level of 6301.

The return on a successful bet is a multiple of your stake. Therefore, a winning 2/1 bet would see you collect two times your stake, plus your original stake.

Clearly fixed and floating bets are opposites of each other. With fixed odds the odds remain static whilst the target price moves. With floating odds the odds move whilst the strike price remains static.
