ChoiceOdds may be a betting company but we don't believe in gambling with the future of our planet.

We would love to say this is because we spend our free time hugging trees and petting small woodland animals. But the truth is that a spot of carbon neutral trading is a bit of a no-brainer. We'd like somewhere nice to live in 50 years time.

Some of the predictions, from some of the less whacky scientists, should have woken us up to what we're doing to the planet by now. And we run a fair piece of computer kit at the ChoiceOdds offices to allow you guys to keep betting. And that warms the planet up a teeny bit. So...

We at ChoiceOdds are going to plant trees. A lot of trees.

Just so that we know we've more than made up for what we're all doing here.

Who knows, maybe one day your grand kids will lean against that very tree. Then Family Trees will take on a whole new meaning.

If we had more time we'd put on our wellies and plant the trees ourselves. But then who'd take your bets? That's why we're doing it through Oxfam.

We won't gamble on the future of our planet

We at ChoiceOdds have also decided to offset our carbon emissions and contribute to a better future. Our energy consumption includes all our gas and electricity usage, both in our offices and at the data centre where our servers are hosted. It also takes in to account our employees' daily journeys to work.

To offset our carbon emissions, we support Climate Care initiatives.

Climate Care is a service that helps us to repair the damage our activities do to the climate. It does this by 'offsetting' the greenhouse gas emissions, such as CO2, from our activities by reducing an equivalent amount of CO2 on our behalf. These reductions are made through a range of projects in renewable energy and energy efficiency, which not only fight climate change but bring benefits to communities round the world:

• Restoring Rainforests in Uganda
• Renewable power for schools in India
• Efficient stoves in Honduras
• And many others...
