Arbitrage

This occurs when there is a discrepancy in prices (or value). For example, two web sites might be offering a price on the FTSE, one to buy at 6200, the other to sell at 6201. To take advantage of this arbitrage opportunity one would buy on the first site and sell on the second. By so doing one has locked in a profit of one point. See No Brainer.
