Binaries

Shorthand for "binary bets" or "binary betting".

Binaries are effectively a bet on the percentage chance of an event occurring. It could be on rain today, Tony Blair becoming Pope by Christmas or whether the FTSE will end up in the next 5 minutes. ChoiceOdds.com is a financial bookmaker so it is these latter financial events that we are concerned with.

Binaries are a relatively new form of betting, mirroring very much their predecessor spread betting.

The similarities are striking in that you both bet your stake per point and you have the ability to get into a position and out of one in-running.

A fundamental difference with regular spread betting is the more limited risk nature of binaries: since they settle at either 0 or 100 the exposure of any one bet is limited to a maximum of 100 ticks.
