Stake

The stake is the amount bet. In fixed or floating odds the stake is equal to your maximum potential loss. For example, when placing £10 on a 5/1 bet, your stake is £10. Your potential loss is also £10. In binary betting, it is the amount per point you are betting. See Margin.
