Yield

Another term for the percentage return on any investment.

With reference to stocks it refers to the rate of return as represented by dividends. The stock yield is calculated by dividing the dividend by the share price.

"Yield" is also the term employed by traders once they have the Head of the Desk in a half-Nelson following a particularly bad annual bonus (that is, less than 7 figures).
