At ChoiceOdds, we believe that gambling is an exciting and pleasurable activity and should remain so. We want our clients to enjoy betting on the financial markets. Hence, we are committed to providing the best possible customer experience.

If you think you might be gambling too much or that you are gambling for the wrong reasons we recommend you take the time to read this section carefully. If, after reading this, you need more advice we would urge you to contact professional organisations. Below is some advice to stay in control of your gambling activity, and some questions to ask yourself.

Please note that underage gambling is strictly forbidden.

Safe Gambling: Stay in Control

Gambling, for many, is a welcome distraction and an enjoyable way to pass the time. However, failure to properly monitor your gambling activities could lead to them spiralling out of control. Here are some good "rules of thumb" for keeping a level head during your time on a gambling website.

  • Aim to monitor the time and money you spend gambling.
  • Set yourself limits and only gamble with money you can afford to lose.
  • Do not spend too long at the screen. Take breaks.
  • Remember to think of gambling as a fun past-time and not necessarily a way to make money, or recoup losses.
  • Gambling should not interfere with your daily responsibilities and obligations.
  • You should not gamble if you are under the influence of alcohol or any other substance which may affect your judgement.

Questions to Ask Yourself

If you are worried that gambling is having a negative affect on your life, we recommend you ask yourself the following questions:

  • Do you stay away from work, school or college to gamble?
  • Do you gamble to escape from a boring or unhappy life?
  • If you run out of money when you are gambling, do you feel lost and desperate to gamble again as soon as possible?
  • Do you gamble until you lose your money?
  • Have you ever lied to cover up the amount of money or the time you have spent gambling?
  • Have you ever been criticised by friends/family/colleagues for your gambling?
  • Have you ever lied, stolen or borrowed to facilitate your gambling?
  • Since you started gambling, do you feel less enthusiastic about friends/family?
  • After losing, do you feel like you must continue gambling in order to win back your money?
  • Do arguments, frustrations or disappointments make you want to gamble?
  • Do you feel depressed or suicidal because of your gambling?

If you find yourself answering yes to most of the questions it is likely that you have a gambling problem and we recommend you seek professional help - see below.
